It wasn't his cleanest round of the tournament Sunday, but after going 1-under Tiger Woods was able to win the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral. He was 19 under for the tournament beating Steven Sticker by two strokes.
However, the real victory was not in the win, but what it could signify.
Ever since he returned from his break following the dreaded car crash that preceded the end to his marriage and a stay in rehab fans and analysts have been trying to predict the 'Return of Tiger,' but with no real success. Injuries and erratic play has hounded the former No. 1 ever since.
With the win at Doral Sunday an argument could be made for that scenario no longer being the case. Tiger has five wins under his belt in his last 19 starts.
He has done well enough when he doesn't win that (thanks to Sunday's win) should he win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in a couple weeks he will regain an old, familiar perch--the No. 1 rank in the world.
If there was ever a time to say that Tiger is back it would be now, but why jinx it? I can wait a couple weeks...
