The Baltimore Orioles were the darlings of Major League Baseball last season after moving out of the cellar to the post season for the first time in years. Four games into the '13 season they are 3-1 giving fans every reason to think last season was not a fluke (although there are 158 games left to play...).
If Chris Davis can keep it up the Orioles should be able to contend in the AL East. With a grand slam in Friday's game he became just the fourth player in MLB history to hit a home run in each of the first four games of the season (watch the video for the first three).
While baseball fans have reason to be excited with the way the Orioles and Davis have been playing, fantasy owners will be a little wary of Davis going forward. In the 27-year old player's short career he has made a practice of slugging the ball out of the park--and striking out.
In 2008 he struck out in 30 percent of his at-bats, but still batted .304. However in 2009 he set a record that no player ever wants to own. He hit the 100 strike out mark in just 219 at-bats.
So while the fans will dig the long ball, fantasy owners will hate the Ks.
