Chris Webber Attends National Finals to Support Alma Mater

One of the biggest questions leading up to the National Finals Monday night was whether one of the members of Michigan's last national title contender--the Fab Five--was going to show. I'm talking about the man behind the most famous timeout in college basketball history--Chris Webber.

The question has been the topic of conversation on a number of sports programs, and even though Webber lives in the Atlanta area where the game is being played there was no indication that he was going to be there.

Webber has steadily tried to distance himself from the Fab Five, and according to Jalen Rose it had nothing to do with the team. There was no falling out. There was no ill-will over the time out, and the guys were not angry with him about the scandal that caused Michigan to vacate the wins the team had in '92 and '93.

I an understand why he might not want to get involved in a lot of things about the Fab Five. The 'timeout' is going to live on as one of the biggest plays in NCAA history--not exactly a shining moment for him. Tack on the fact that he caused the team's wins to be vacated and--well, no one likes a constant reminder of the biggest mistakes they've ever made.

However, with Michigan playing in the national finals for the first time since the days of the Fab Five there was no better time to have a reunion for one of the most iconic teams in college basketball history.

His guys--the rest of the Fab Five--wanted him there. The fans wanted to see him. The reunion needed to happen...

And sure enough, Chris Webber was in attendance (a video was not available to embed, but follow the link and you an see Webber arrive to the game; as soon as a video becomes available I will embed it here).
