'Chunky Cheerleader' Story Pulled Because it was Tasteless and Untrue (see for yourself)

Following Game One of the Western Conference Series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets a Houston area site (CBS Houston) posted a story that any editor in his right mind would have killed in a heart beat. It was stupid. It was tasteless. It was flat out inappropriate and mean-spirited.

They called one of the cheerleaders for the Thunder 'chunky.'

Some of the OKC Thunder cheerleaders in bikinis. Love it.
After leaving the story up for a couple days someone finally came to their senses and took it down. However, they did so while still trying to defend posting it in the first place.
“We are not trying to be ugly,” Claire Crawford wrote. “We are just discussing what men like in women, specifically NBA cheerleaders.”
Please. You--a woman--posted a story calling another woman chunky! You don't think that is a little bit inflammatory to say the least? Trying to justify it by putting it off on the guys is just cowardly. Besides, six-packs and rib cages are not that hot.

Own your BS Ms. Crawford.

What makes the story even worse though is the response to the online survey. When I looked at it on Tuesday there were about 30 percent that either said she needed to tighten up or had no business being out there.

When it comes down to it the internet has brought out the inner mean-girl in lots of people. I'd be willing to bet that many of those 30 percent were either Rockets fans (like myself) sore that the Thunder had such an easy day with Houston in Game One or people that wish they could wear one of those outfits and not get laughed at.

Kelsey--if you read this--don't sweat the haters. You're hot.
