Kansas City Royals Ball Boy Forgets He's Not in the Big Leagues

Ball boys have been getting a lot of attention early in the season. The Hooters Girls that were acting in that capacity during spring training in Florida had some memorable gaffs, but the one by this ball boy for the Royals takes the cake.

It appears the kid was just moving into position to catch a foul ball, but what he didn't realize is that Raji Davis, the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder, was charging over to attempt a catch.

As close as Davis came to nailing the kid you have to think that  he could have had a shot at making the out. If only...

Hopefully the kid doesn't get fired for it. I don't know what--if anything--ball boys make. Shoot, at that age I would be cool doing it for free just so I can watch the game from the best seat in the house. Now if the team gets any indication that he messed up Davis's chance to make a play on purpose then he needs to be banned for life.

If they don't, hopefully all he'll get is a ton of crap from his friends and 15 minutes of fame thanks to the internet.

  1. Banned for life, Why? Because he forgot he should not interfere. Even the baseball players do worse things knowing it's wrong like charging the mound, making racist comments etc. and they don't get banned for life. Why should you say that. How about if it was your son?

    1. The ball was clearly in play all be it going foul. If--notice I said if just like I did in the post-- he intentionally interfered with the play then yes, he should never be allowed back as a ball boy ever again (integrity of the game and all). IF and INTENTIONALLY being the key words here.

If it was a brain fart then we give him a reprimand and move on.

Comparing him to disciplining players for the dumb things they do is apples to oranges.
