It is official. Kobe Bryant suffered a full rupture of his Achilles tendon in his left ankle Friday night against the Golden State Warriors. He is done for the season. However, while the initial timeline of a year for recovery would have him out for next season as well that may not be the case where the Black Mamba is concerned.
Well wishes flooded Twitter last night and around 3:30 AM Kobe let loose himself on Facebook. After whatever accounted for a night's sleep Kobe was back to his usual, confident, never say die kind of self posting pictures of his MRI and getting ready for surgery.
When the injury occurred last night it was initially thought that he would need a year in order to recover, but following surgery today word spread over the World Wide Web that his timetable is more like 6-9 months instead.
Should that be the case the best case scenario would have him back in action during training camp next season. Heck, even the worst case scenario wouldn't be the end of the season either. It would not be how Kobe would like his possible final season to go, but maybe that could get him to come back for another...
As it stands right now his last season under contract is next season. You know the Lakers would never let him go somewhere else, but the question would be him an whether he wants to come back.
He has already said that he is not going to let this injury be the end, but that doesn't mean he'll want to come back after next season (but knowing him he probably will).
