Rob Gronkowski Could Miss the Start of the Season

The New England Patriots might want to make sure they sign a good wide receiver or two (and that the possible legal issue with Aaron Hernandez is nothing to worry about). Why? Because they may be without their other tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

The Gronk had some bad luck at the end of last season that seems to be continuing during the off-season.

After breaking his arm in the game against Indianapolis last season he was able to return, but then broke it again in the post season. Since then he has had to have an additional surgery on the arm because of an infection around the plate that was put in his forearm to help it heal.

As it turns out, Gronk is going to have to undergo another surgery to take out the second plate and put in a new one. Doctors have been trying to treat the infection around that plate with antibiotics before having surgery, but the infection has been stubborn.

This infection is really being problematic. From what it sounds like, they need the infection to go away before they can install the new plate, but the darn thing is not.

So when you factor in the time it will take for that to happen on top of  recovery from the new plate being installed their is a chance that the Patriots could be minus the Gronk to start the 2013 season.

Maybe signing Terrell Owens doesn't seem so crazy after all, huh?
