Arizona Diamondbacks Gerardo Parra Now Has Something in Common With Pete Rose

Arizona's 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins gave the Diamondbacks a record of 25-18 and a one game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The one run came courtesy of a solo home run by Gerardo Parra in the first inning.

What does that have to do with Pete Rose? Well, the home run--and only run--came on the first pitch of the game. The last time that happened was back on September 2, 1963, when the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 1-0.

The hitter that day--none other than Pete Rose (no word on whether Rose made an incredible play like Parra did to help preserve the lead)!
