NBA Finals Game 1: A Tale of Two Headlines

For years journalists and photographers have been telling us that a picture says a thousand words. Sometimes that is true and easy to see; other times it can be kind of hard to figure out what the first 1000 words are.

When it comes to the covers of the Miami Herald and San Antonio Express after a dramatic Game One win for the Spurs, 92-88, the covers--and well, their titles certainly do just that.

I'll give the Miami Herald credit for putting a pretty good spin on a hard loss. Using a picture of one of their stars slicing threw the lane past four Spurs is a pretty good image; it says 'I can beat them. Just watch.'

But of course they didn't, and much like the jock that gets spurned by the cheerleader for the smart, funny guy--they lost.

The San Antonio Express went with this (yeah I couldn't find an actual snap shot of it online):

King clutch: Parker's banker seals Game 1 Finals win over Heat

You don't even need to have watched the game to know the title is true; just this play.

Is it just me or does LeBron look a little flabbergasted there? Almost as if he is getting visions of 2007 dancing through his head?

As good as those two pics and headlines are there is one picture that tells the whole story of Game 1, from the regular season dominance and larger than life personas of the Heat to the 'Holy Cow! The Spurs won!' and everything in between.

Kudos to the MySanAntonio.com for this awesome image:

Come on LeBron. You can't be that shocked. It's not like it hasn't happened before to you.
