Someone? Anyone? |
"If I play this year, that'd be awesome. If I don't play this year, I'm retiring, That's just me being realistic. I want to play again. I want to go out on top with a team. I think I can still play, but if I don't sign with a team, it would be time to retire. I have to be honest with myself."It can't hurt that Owens has a possible career ahead of him in another sport---bowling. He's been the celebrity owner of a team in the Pro Bowlers Association, the Dallas Strikers, but has recently taken to the lanes himself making his debut in the United States Bolwing Congress Open Championship in February.
TO claims his personal best is a 288.
“Hopefully, one day if I get good enough I can be out here competing [on the PBA Tour],” Owens told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “The more I get involved and the more competitive I get with the sport, I can envision myself out there competing against these guys.”This is not to say that he is ready to walk away. No, he still wants to play football quite a bit; if not for the paycheck to prove that he can. However, it does appear that if no one is going to give him a shot he is finally going to call it a career and hang up his cleats for good.
