Miguel Cabrera Makes History (Surprise!)

Miguel Cabrera has done a lot in his time in the league. He's a World Series champion, a two-time AL home run, RBI, and batting champion, an eight time All-Star, the AL MVP, and the guy to hit for the triple crown in the AL in 45 years. Suffice it to say he has done a lot.

As of Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox he's done a lot more; made history even.

When Cabrera stepped into the batter's box in the fifth inning and crushed home run No. 30 he became the first player to hit 30 home runs and 90 or more RBIs (he has 94) before the all-star break.



Now the question is whether the history making is going to stop there. Can he bat for the Triple Crown for the second season in a row (something no other player has ever done)?

With Cabrera it is entirely possible. His batting average (.366) is already 37 points higher than the next highest (Yadier Molina, .339). Baltimore's Chris Davis trails him in RBIa by eight; Cabrera has 94 and Davis 86.

The problem is Davis is leading the league in home runs with 34. However, with more than 70 games left a whole lot could happen still!
