When the not guilty verdict was read for George Zimmerman in his murder trial there was one thing that could be counted on to happen next--people would be outraged. Many wasted no time taking to one social media channel or another to voice their opinions.
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was one of those people. His tweet held a pretty grim prediction for what could be next for Trayvon Martin's killer.
Shortly after the trial was read Cruz sent out the following tweet (which has since been deleted):
“Thoroughly confused. Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up to him.”
I am guessing that Cruz deleted the tweet because he didn't want anyone to try and say that the idea came from him after it happens, but I am sure he has nothing to worry about that.
Call it what you will but our society is one that tends to merit out justice in its own way when the legal system doesn't do it instead.
Is it right? Absolutely not. Vigilante justice is against the law as well. Does that stop people? Sometimes, but not always.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver had this to say:
Ouch.
The sad thing is this is likely only the beginning.
