5 Things We Can Take From the Hall of Fame Game

It's been a log wait, but after months of waiting, checking out transaction reports, following the draft, hoping the police blotter didn't have a player from your team on it, and listening to countless so called experts offer their opinion on the coming NFL season we can know say this--

Are you ready for some football? Because it's here!

The Hall of Fame Game was played Sunday night in Canton, Ohio, between the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. Yeah, its only preseason ball, but after so many months without any football it is better than nothing.

In the end the Cowboys got the win, 24-20, but as we all know the preseason does not mean a thing. In fact, since a lot of starters sit or play very little its hard to draw any conclusions at all from the game. However, there are a few things I think we can take from the game (with a grain of salt; it is preseason after all).

1. George Selvie came to play! The former USF defensive end has been a journeyman so far with stops in St. Louis, Carolina, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay, but he looked pretty darn good against the Dolphins. Either that or Dallas Thomas sucks.

2. Lamar Miller looked pretty good for the Dolphins--when he held onto the ball. His burst when he got some open field was impressive. If he doesn't hold on to the ball though all the burst in the world is not going to matter.

3. Dallas might actually have a running game this season. I'm not a big fan of that Murray guy, but I really liked what I say out of the two headed monster of Phillip Tanner and John Randle. Both guys ran hard and effective.

4. Matt Moore looked okay, but Ryan Tannehill is the future for the Dolphins. If the future is going to be a good one they need to get him on the field more as well as Mike Wallace. He needs to get some more work in with his weapons though--not the scrubs.

5. Internet trick videos are not a waste of time. DIII quarterback Alex Tanney made one a couple years ago. It helped him get into camp with the Kansas City Chiefs and now he's getting time with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys didn't pass much so its hard to say if he's got what it takes at the NFL level yet.
