Vince Young to Workout For the Green Bay Packers Monday

Right when it looked like he was out---they pull him back in! Fans of the Texas Longhorns will be paying attention to the news coming out of the Green Bay Packers training camp for the next couple days. Why? Because one of the proud school's favorite sons is getting a chance to play football again.

I'm talking about quarterback Vince Young.

Young has not played since the 2011 season when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. He got three starts towards the end of the season, and while his play wasn't great it wasn't bad either. There were definitely signs that some magic still remained in the former Pro Bowler and national champion.

It wasn't enough for him to stick in Buffalo last season and he has been out of football ever since. After a solid workout at his alma mater during its last Pro Day some teams began to show interest again, but no one has been willing to bring him into training camp just yet.

Aaron Rodgers is obviously the man in Green Bay, but every team loves to have an experienced veteran backing up their starter if possible. Graham Harrell is the No. 2 man for now with 2012 seventh round draft pick B.J. Coleman (out of Chattanooga) the No. 3 QB.

Neither of the Packers current back-ups have any NFL experience to show for just yet. Should the worst case scenario happen and Rodgers were to get hurt it is hard to imagine the Packers would want to turn the team over to an untested, unproven player.

True, that is how some of the greatest players have been discovered, but if the other option is to have a former pro bowl-caliber player that is definitely well-rested come in--well, I think the answer is clear.

Assuming his workout goes well on Monday...
