Fantasy Sports Television Network Soon to be a Reality

Fantasy sports are a huge business in today's world. Heck, one of the funniest shows on television--FX's The League--is based on a bunch of guys in a fantasy league. Ask anyone involved in a semi-serious fantasy league and they'll tell you the show is as much a documentary as it is fiction!

So why not have a channel on cable dedicated to fantasy sports? (video is NSFW by the way)

Come September there should be a channel dedicated to fantasy sports 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Anthem Media Group recently acquired SportsGrid and the RotoExperts (talked about at length here) to boost the launch of the Fantasy Sports Television Network.
"This is a tremendous acquisition for us as we build out the world's premier fantasy sports media company," said Leonard Asper, President and CEO of Anthem Media. "We will have access to many of the most talented commentators to develop and expand the video content for the TV channel..."
Well.

For the serious fantasy owner and even the not so serious player this channel could be a game changer. I'd be willing to bet Sunday morning will be all about injury reports and the last minute add/drops that could help.

No longer will your league be dominated by that creepy guy that does a crazy amount of research and likes to spit out stats you need an advanced degree to understand. The fantasy channel will do that research and explain it so even the guy that still drafts Keyshawn Johnson every year will understand it.

Now the company has yet to make any kind of programming announcements of any kind. With the launch of the new channel expected in September--right in time for the highly lucrative fantasy football season--you would think that we would be seeing commercials.

But it is supposed to be coming so stay tuned...
