Basketball Legend Bill Russell Arrested in Boston Airport on Gun-Related Charge

Folks that are concerned about airport safety can rest easy--the TSA means business. Wednesday in Seattle they had a 79-year old man with a loaded weapon--a .38 hand gun--in his carry on bag. It didn't matter to them that it happened to be in the bag of a living legend in the NBA--Bill Russell.

It shouldn't matter that he happens to be a living legend; you screw up, you screw up--and he screwed up. Since he is who he is it's considered news.

Russell has a permit for the weapon in question, but when it comes to the airport that doesn't matter. He was cited for carrying a weapon in a restricted are and will be assessed a fine.
