Cardinals Headed to World Series After Destroying Dodgers in Game 6; Michael Wacha Named Series MVP

The St. Louis Cardinals didn't just beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the NLCS Friday night--they destroyed them!

The Cardinals bats beat up on Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw early with four runs in the third. They would get five more in the fifth (final score 9-0), but Kershaw was pulled after getting tagged with three hits and another run in the fifth.

The star of the night was St. Louis pitcher Michael Wacha. The rookie from Texas A&M pitched seven masterful innings holding the Dodgers lineup to just two hits and a walk while striking out five. When combined with his 6 2/3 inning performance in Game 2 (5 hits, 1 walk, 8 Ks) it was enough to earn him the NLCS MVP award.

The win sends the Cardinals back to the World Series for the 19th time and the first time since they won it all in 2011. They may have to wait a couple days before they find out who they are going to play. Game 6 of the ALCS between the Red Sox and Tigers is on Saturday.

Should the Red Sox win they will head to the World Series a year after losing 93 games. If necessary Game 7 will be Sunday night.
