It's that time of the year college football fans. The first BCS rankings of the year are out! This season they are a little more significant that previous years. Why? Because this is the last time we will be using the system. Instead of looking to some computer programs and the polls made by lots of people we are going to trust that 13 people are going to pick the best four teams to play in the College Playoff.
And not just pick whatever the sponsors want or the NCAA thinks will get the best ratings (that will of course make the sponsors happy.
Anyway....without any further ado--the first BCS rankings:
1. Alabama 11. Auburn 21. South Carolina
2. Florida State 12. UCLA 22. Michigan
3. Oregon 13. LSU 23. UCF
4. Ohio State 14. Virginia Tech 24. Nebraska
5. Missouri 15. Oklahoma 25. Oregon State
6. Stanford 16. Texas A&M
7. Miami (FL) 17.Fresno State
8. Baylor 18. Northern Illinois
9. Clemson 19. Oklahoma State
10. Texas Tech 20. Louisville
Alabama was no surprise, but many will think that FSU at No. 2 is. The Ducks have lived at No. 2 in the other polls and it goes without saying that they have one of if not the most explosive offense in the nation (Baylor?), but their competition sucks. FSU on the other hand has already been tested and demolished some good competition.
Right Clemson?
The great thing is we know that this will change and eventually be a reflection of the best that college football has to offer--all in good time.
