Most of the United States is not aware of this fact, but the game of rugby has pretty much everything that fans of the major sports want. You have fairly consistent much like soccer. There is plenty of contact for the football fans to enjoy. Some of the players (locks) could make great centers on basketball teams (thin connection but work with me here).
Oh--and there are plenty of fights--like in this recent Canada/Georgia match--that hockey fans will love (minus the sticks and gloves of course).
