Could Mack Brown Deserve a Raise When the Season is Over?

For the last few seasons Texas Coach Mack Brown has been on the hot seat, but with the way things are looking he could be in line for a raise.

Texas Fans are accustomed to winning. Not just a little bit. Not just every so often, but all the time and usually in spectacular fashion. Since the Longhorns have not exactly been doing that of late the team’s head coach comes up every time there is a talk about the ‘hot seat.’

If this were last season or the season before the rumors may have been deserved. The 2010 season was the first losing one in the Mack Brown era (5-7). The ’11 was better (8-5) as was the ’12 (9-4), but it was not up to par with what Texas fans had grown to expect over the last decade of 10+ win seasons.

This season the Longhorns could finish anywhere from 8-5 to 10-3 after a bowl game. That raises the question: Should he be fired if the team wins less than 10 games? The answer is no. In fact, even if the Longhorns finish 8-5 an argument could be made that Brown deserves a raise.

Crazy, right?...
