Minnesota Breaks Rivalry Trophy After First Win over Penn State Since 2004

It has been a long time since the Governor's Victory Bell has gone home with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but this season it will be.

Minnesota has been on a roll since Head Coach Jerry Kill has had to leave the sideline for health reasons. That roll continued with the team's fourth win in a row, a 24-10 win over Penn State at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The rivalry is a young one with the first in the series being played in 1993, and often has breaks of a year or two in between. Penn State had won the last four meetings between the two dating back to 2005.

So when you consider how long it has been since the Gophers could claim victory over the Nittany Lions its understandable that the guys might be a little excited--hence breaking the trophy.

Heck--it even moved head coach Jerry Kill to dance!
