You Make the Call--Touchdown Atlanta or 3rd and Goal?
Early during Thursday night's game between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Darius Johnson caught a Matt Ryan pass near the goal line, but since he knew he was going to be tackled he stretched the ball out in hopes that he could get it to cross the plane of the goal line.
He was called down a the one, but it didn't really matter in the scheme of things. Steven Jackson was more than happy to take the ball over the final yard.
However, it probably did matter to Johnson. Undrafted out of SMU he has to make the most of whatever opportunity he gets. He did score his first NFL touchdown a couple weeks ago, but I am sure he would have loved to have gotten No. 2.
