Are the Referees in the Fight Hunger Bowl Awake?

The refs during Friday night's bowl games have not been doing a very good job. In the Texas Bowl earlier in the night there was a pretty bad miss. During the Fight Hunger Bowl between the BYU Cougars and Washington Huskies there was easily one of the worst missed calls of the season.

And with the ref standing just a few yards away watching!

The only argument that could be made was that the BYU player was in the air when Washington QB Keith Price through the ball. He can't control where he lands after he jumps, right?

Should the ref try to use that argument--well, it would be crap.

BYU defensive end Bronson Kaufusi clearly led with his head on the way down and made sure he gave Price a nice headbutt. No accident here. He knew exactly what he was doing.

I'm all for changing the rules to protect the players, but if the NCAA is going to do it they need to actually enforce the rules; at least when it is as obvious as it is here.
