How Long Till Kliff Kingsbury Heads to the NFL?

Kliff Kingsbury’s first season as a head coach ended on a high note, but you can’t help but wonder how many college seasons he has left.

Monday night was a good night for Kliff Kingsbury. The first year head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders beat No. 14 Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl 37-23. His team never trailed, his freshman quarterback threw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns—all in the first half—and his defense held the No. 8 scoring offense in the NCAA well below its average (41.0).

Life is good for the young coach, which brings up the inevitable question. How can it get better?

How about the NFL?

The NFL has become a passing league in recent years with more and more team relying on the pass. Ten years ago there were five teams with 4000+ passing yards. This season there were 16 including two with over 5000. Kingsbury has proved over the span of his college coaching career that he knows a thing or two about the passing game. In 2011 he guided the Houston Cougars and quarterback Case Keenum to a record breaking season where they led the nation in just about every major offensive category....
