Mack Brown Did the Best With What He Had in Final Game

The odds were stacked against Mack Brown and the Longhorns in the Alamo, and while they did lose the team was far from “crushed.”

Texas had hoped to send Mack Brown out with an upset win over the Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl. Even if the team had not been racked with injuries and suspensions it would have been a tall order. As any football coach worth his salt will tell you when it’s game time you do the best with what you have.

Monday night against the Oregon Ducks Mack Brown did just that.

Oregon was expected to cruise past the Longhorns; many are claiming that they did. They are saying that the Ducks ‘crushed Texas in Mack Browns finale.’ If the headline said Marcus Mariota instead it would be true.

The sophomore rebounded from a poor finish to the regular season to account for 386 yards (253 passing and 133 rushing) and one touchdown. He did look hobbled in the second half by cramps so maybe he could have done even more damage, but he didn’t....
