Jared Allen Almost Catches a TD Pass in What Could Be Last Game as a Viking

With two sacks Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen finished the season with a double-digit sack total for the seventh season in a row, but it was another play that really got the crown going--a wide open chance at a touchdown (Christian Ponder would have hit that).

The question now is whether he is going to be back next season or not.

As good as he is, it doesn't look good for Allen. This season his base was over $11 million and he took home $17 million. He earned his money, but the Vikings have to think about the future when it comes to resigning him.

Allen will become a free agent this season, and even though he is still playing well he is not a spring chicken anymore. At 32 it would not be unusual to see a slide in production at any time. I don't think he has given them reason to think he will, but it's just something that happens as most players age.

Teams are not going to want to offer him the kind of money that he's been making. So the question will be whether he will be willing to take less--or will he do like Brian Urlacher and call it a day.
