Sounds Like Johnny Manziel is Probably Going Pro (but he might not)

With the exception of the Army/Navy game this weekend the college football regular season is over. Bowl Season does not start till the Las Vegas Bowl (USC vs. Fresno State) on December 21 so what's a fan to do till than? Enjoy Award Season, that's what.

Johnny Manziel is in Orlando visiting Disney prior to the ESPN Awards Saturday night. During the press conference Wednesday he gave some insight into whether he's going to enter the draft or not.

He didn't flat out say that he was going to enter the draft or return for his junior season, but from many of his comments it sounds like he's leaning towards going pro. He just wants to be absolutely sure that he's ready for the next level before making the jump.

If he think he's ready than what's going to hold him back? Probably nothing, but his readiness is not the only factor.

There are always going to be teams in need of a starter or a capable back-up, but he is not going to want to be a No. 2 especially when he could be playing and developing his game further in college.

I like that he is concerned about his legacy. While it is easy to say that he is one of the best I'd have to take a hard look at A&M football through the years to decide if he is the best ever. I'm not so sure I've seen enough to call him that in just two years.

The let down at the end of the season sure takes some of the shine off his legacy. Johnny gave a little insight into why his play slipped the last couple games.

A video of the interview is supposed to make its way to the World Wide Web. When I see it (or if someone else does and wants to paste a link to it in the comments section) I'll get it up here.

As for whether he's going pro, I find it hard to believe that any player eligible to go into the draft and thinks he's ready will stay in college another year. The only thing that I think could keep him in College Station for another season (after looking at his comments) would be the plethora of quarterbacks in the draft this year. Then again, there are going to be some pretty good ones in the draft next year as well.

I do think that he lost a little shine down the stretch especially with the way the LSU game went and the Missouri one as well. Another season in college could give him the opportunity to prove those games were the exception and not the rule.
