Early Thursday afternoon the Willie Meggs, the state attorney in the case involving sexual assault allegations against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, held a press conference announcing that no charges would be pressed against the QB.
The investigation is what it is, and I am sure there is going to be a lot of talk over it in the coming days. Part of the discussion that the state of Florida should take pretty serious is the conduct of Meggs during the press conference.
Does he think he's anointing Winston as the next Heisman winner already or something? I know he claimed that he has no clue about the award or the season, but who does he think he's fooling?
The jokes and all the laughing were grossly inappropriate. While the reporters are as guilty as Meggs, it all started with him. Had he answered the questions in a serious manner about a serious subject I'd be willing to bet the reporters would have taken it seriously too.
He needs to apologize for treating something involving sexual assault as a joke immediately, and the state needs to severely reprimand him if not fire him immediately.
