Utah State Too Much For Jordan Lynch and the NIU Huskies in the Poinsettia Bowl

Thursday night's Poinsettia Bowl pitted one of the top defenses in the nation--Utah State--against one of the best offenses--Northern Illinois--leaving fans with one question to be answered before the night was over: which is worth more?

With Heisman trophy finalist Jordan Lynch on the side of the Huskies the popular choice would have been offense, but Utah State's defense is no joke. The Aggies proved it by effectively taking Lynch out of the equation and winning back-to-back bowl games for the first time in school history with a 21-14 win over No. 23 Northern Illinois.

Jordan Lynch was never able to figure out the Aggies defense throwing for only 216 yards (20-35), one touchdown and one interception. After gaining more rushing yards in a single season than any other quarterback in NCAA history (1920) he was only able to gain 42 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.
