The Capital One Bowl was a fairly close, tough game until one play happened in the second half--this one where quarterback Joel Stave was blasted by the South Carolina defense.

Stave--ever the warrior--tried to continue, but you can see on this hand off that he was in pain and needed to come out.

The hit appeared to spur the South Carolina defense and offense who seemed to get stronger as the second half progressed. Curt Phillips did his best to fill the void left when Stave exited the game, but he wasn't able to keep the offense going.
Noble effort Badgers, but in the end it just wasn't your day.
