Ron Jaworski’s Critique of Johnny Manziel Only Proves One Thing

No matter what Johnny Manziel does there is always be someone that will refuse to believe that he can do the right thing on or off the field.

At times former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has to feel like the kid in the short-lived Fox series Everybody Hates Chris. No matter how hard he tries to do right there is always someone that is going to hate him.

When it comes to his personal life off the field it is understandable to see why people may not be too fond of him. His brazen, in-your-face attitude on social media channels and flaunting of his new found fame turned a lot of people off to Heisman winner. Tack on the autograph scandal that captivated headlines prior to the ‘13 season and there was plenty not to like.

If you look at just the person that was portrayed in the media last off-season and you can see why former Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys head coach Barry Switzer was not too fond of him as a person—but he loved him as a player.

That was last season though. He has since all but abandoned social media, and is rarely in the headlines for anything other than charity appearances, the NFL Combine, updates on his training, and draft talk. Manziel says that the wild and crazy days are behind him; that he is committed to being a professional football player. So far there is no reason to believe differently.

With that being the case than how come ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski was so critical?....
