The NL Combine is a pretty big deal for the college kids in attendance. After working their behinds off their entire lives they are finally getting the chance to impress the people that matter most--NFL coaches and executives. Look good and you can improve your draft status or at least guarantee you'll get a camp invite as a free agent. Look bad and you give everyone a reason to doubt--which may or may not affect draft status.
So--pressure? Just a little I suppose. Probably enough to make someone curse up a storm when they think they just ran a bad 40 like UCLA LB Jordan Zumwalt (it's quiet, but still NSFW).
Zumwalt didn't actually do that bad. I don't know if this was his first or second run, but NFL.com list his best time as 4.76 seconds which is about the middle of the pack. Yeah, when you are projected to be a mid-round pick you hope to do something to stand out.
But you didn't suck Jordan so relax.
