Advances in technology and exercise science have made it possible for athletes with the time and resources to fine tune their bodies in a fashion that guys a decade ago only dreamed about. Gone are the archaic days of simply moving a lot of weight and running a lot. Now its all about nutrition and precision exercises--and guys are getting faster and stronger.
But not everyone relies on modern technology; Rashaan Evans, a 5-star Alabama recruit certainly didn't.
To work on his speed he and his brother Alex used to run with the family's horses!
"At first, it was weird," Rashaan said. "I didn't know what he was doing. I was like, 'why are you chasing horses?' So I started doing it."
If you are wondering how they did it--well, it's as easy as it sounds. Rashaan would just run with horses like Aladdin (see above) until he couldn't anymore. While it may seem like a strange thing to do the logic is pretty sound.
You've heard about guys working out with someone stronger and/or faster, right?
"All it does, it works on cardio and all that stuff and just having something that's much faster than you running around with it," Rashaan said. "When you get on the field, it's almost like the game comes slower to you because athletes are not as fast as horses."
So Bama fans if you think your new outside linebacker looks really, really fast next season you have a horse named Aladdin to thank for it.
