Former Texas Longhorn QB Vince Young to Retire From the NFL

It's been expected for sometime now, but it appears that it is finally going to happen. Former college great Vince Young has decided it's time to hang up the cleats for good.

He has yet to file the paperwork with the NFL yet, but word is that he has decided it's time to take the job his alma mater has promised him:

Young's career was one full of hope and promise after he led the Longhorns to a national championship, but things never quite panned out for him. The Tennessee Titans took him with the third pick of the 2006 draft. He got his prop career off on the right foot winning Rookie of the Year honors and earning a trip to the Pro Bowl.

However. inconsistent play combined with too many clashes with head coach Jeff Fisher led to his being let his being let go after the 2010 season. He started three games with the Philadelphia Eagles in '11, but was let go at the end of the season.

Young failed to find a roster spot after being invited to camp with the Buffalo Bills in '12, Green Bay Packers in '13, and was cut a couple weeks after signing with the Cleveland Brows this off-season.

After Chad Johnson signed with a Canadian team speculation arose about Young possibly trying to do the same just so he could get back on the field and prove he still has it. Young was quick to squash the speculation by saying that the CFL just wasn't for him.
