There is no need to have four quarterbacks on your roster going in to training camp. The spot could be used for another player at a position of need. So with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tom Savage, Case Keenum, and T.J Yates on the roster for the Houston Texans it was pretty clear what had to happen.
Someone had to go--and know they have.

With Fitzpatrick starting and Savage a rookie and the expected heir apparent that left Keenum and Yates. Since the team didn't give Yates a shot last year even though the offense struggled immensely it should come as no surprise that he is the odd man out:
Yates will forever be remembered in Houston as the quarterback that led the Texans to the franchise's first playoff win, but in the end sentimentality was not enough of a reason to keep him.
