Should the USMNT Make it Past the First Knockout Stage the Next Game Will Be a National Holiday

Much of Sunday's record setting television audience for the USA/Portugal World Cup game may have been up of fair weather fans--but so what? Soccer may not be as beloved by the masses in the U.S. as other countries, but when the jerseys are donned and the team is representing the good ole United States of America we are there.

We make not love the game, but damn it--we love anything that represents our country.

So with another big game coming up a petition has been created in an attempt to get Thursday dubbed a national holiday. Should it actually get the necessary 100,000 signatures we already know what the answer will be--a polite no.

However--should our boys make it past the first knockout stage the next game will be a national holiday.

Independence Day. Can there be a better day for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team to play than that?

When they win--because they have to since they are playing on the Fourth--the masses will do more than go wild.

Much, much more.
