WATCH: Proof San Francisco 49er Tight End Vernon Davis Actually Showed Up for Camp

There were not too many folks that expected 49ers tight end Vernon Davis to show up for training camp. After a summer long hold out  in an attempt to force the team to renegotiate his contract before they needed to he came to his sense and reported on time.

Was it the love of the game? Was it the realization that he needs to become at least a restricted free agent before he can hold the team hostage and hope to win? Was it for his teammates?

Nope. He just didn't want to lose anymore money sitting around his house doing nothing (via PFT):

After skipping the offseason program, losing a $200,000 workout bonus and subjecting himself to up to $70,000 in fines for skipping a mandatory minicamp, 49ers tight end Vernon Davis decided to stop the financial bleeding by showing up for training camp.

Per a league source, his decision to show up for training camp was influenced by multiple factors, including but not limited to $30,000 per day in fines and, after five days, partial signing bonus forfeiture. (via Bleacher Report)
