West Virginia QB Clint Trickett Quits Twitter After Sexist Tweet Controversy

There is a valid reason why a lot of coaches will ban their players from social media during the season. They don't want the kids to say anything they shouldn't and create a distraction that will take away from preparing for the next game.

The recent mess with West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett is a perfect example

For some reason Trickett thought he would share his angst with watching a football game with a female member of the family. There is nothing wrong with that of course, but he should have thought twice before adding the hashtag that he did:

via Twitter
Oh boy.

Eventually some folks in the media picked up on it and he became America's least favorite college quarterback. He did make an apology:

For most folks apologies do not matter when it comes to public figures. He must have caught quite a bit of grief over the mess; enough to make him so goodbye to Twitter.

Yes, folks--he's deleted his account.

That's probably a good thing. Not only will he not have to deal with all the hate anymore, but should he become tempted to do something stupid again he'll have to do it under someone else's name.
