However, according to a conservation group it is going to be a hulking death trap to birds.

According to Audubon Minnesota--the state office for the world's largest bird-focused conservation group--birds are going to kill themselves by running in to the huge glass structure because they will not be able to see it till it is too late.
"...Hundreds of millions of dollars of public money is going to build this stadium, and we know the people of Minnesota do not want their money killing birds. The Vikings recently approved spending millions and millions of additional dollars to make sure the stadium is 'iconic' – surely they also want to make sure it's not a death trap. We're asking them to change their minds and do the right thing."On one hand you have to think that maybe the Vikings should at least look in to what they could do (and did briefly). However, part of the design is to allow fans to see the outside world while they watch a game so they don't want to obstruct the view if they don't have to.
On the other hand, if they remodel or do anything for these guys every special interest group in Minnesota is going to hit them up for some kind of consideration. Even if the team says no it will give their group some free publicity.
How big of an issue can this really be? According to Audubon Minnesota their are 125 species of birds in the Minneapolis area that are prone to running in to windows.
That amounts to a whole lot of potential dead birds.
