Well--as it turns out there was much more to that team than meets the eye.

At shortstop was Phillip Rivers. His center--Nick Hardwick--pitched. Eric Weddle and Danny Woodhead played in the outfield. Also on the roster was safety Darrell Stuckey, kicker Nick Novak. punter Mike Scifres, back-up quarterback Brad Sorenson, former defensive lineman Derek Marso and more.
If you looked at their jersey though you wouldn't know it. The guys opted to go with a redneck kind of theme (hence the mullet Rivers like to wear and names like 'Cletis' on the back of Novak's jersey).
You would think that all these professional athletes would be able to dominate the competition, and while they were good there was a team that was better--Randy Jones Invitational.
During the regular season they actually beat Rivers and company--who played as Valley Farm Market (of which Marso was a part owner)--twice so going in to the championship they were favored.
They ended up winning 10-8, but rather than rub their victory in the face of professional athletes they were pretty cool about it:
"The Chargers are by far the most athletic guys on the field on Wednesday nights," said Henry Schweichler, catcher for Randy Jones Invitational, "but we are the more skillful team."
Now that is something the Chargers have never heard an opponent say before.
