Jones knows it was a smart pick, but that doesn't change one thing. He's still mad about missing out on Johnny Football.

The story has changed so many times it's probably a matter of days before he get another variation of the tale. In a recent piece by ESPN (a very long, but good one) Jones opens up about why he wanted Manziel in spite of every one in the organization saying no--he's tired of being mediocre:
"When we were on the clock, I said, if we pick the other guy -- any other guy -- it would be a ticket to parity, more 8-8 seasons," Jones says. "The only way to break out is to gamble -- take a chance with that first pick, if you wanna dramatically improve your team. That's why I wanted Manziel, but I was the only guy who wanted him. I listened to everybody ... and I'm ... not ... happy ..."Some would say he got lucky and point to what Manziel has done in Cleveland so far, but others would say Garrett is much better with young quarterbacks, Dallas has a much better offensive line, one of the best tight ends in the game in Jason Witten, and one of the game's top wide receivers in Dez Bryant.
A quarterback is only as good as the tools around him. Cleveland's are okay, but Dallas has better ones.
Jones knows that--which is likely why he is mad.
