Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant Not Worried At All About His Contract Situation

Over the last couple of seasons Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has become one of the best in the league--and is only expected to get better. With it being time to negotiate his contract he expects to get paid like it too. The only question is whether Jerry Jones will open up the checkbook enough to satisfy him.

If he doesn't--that's okay.

The two sides have been in talks, but have yet to come to any kind of agreement. If they don't come up with something before the Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week One contract talks will have to wait till the end of the season.

Yes, that means everyone will have a shot at him. Yep, that means he could be screwed if he suffers some kind of massive injury.

Sounds like a reason to worry--right? Not for Bryant.

Jones has made some questionable decisions in the past, but he doesn't let superstars walk away; not until there best days are behind them at least. It is hard to see him not locking Bryant up with a new contract before the season starts. From the sound of things that very well could happen.

Bryant thinks there is a big chance it could happen and Jones does not disagree:

“I wouldn’t refute that. I just wouldn’t,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. “I think that’s the best way to respond to that. He’s got a good sense of it. He obviously feels in the right circumstances he wants to get something done. We do, too. That can be good.”

However, that is not the only reason Bryant has nothing to worry about. So far Bryant's production has not been among the top five in the league, but in the right situation and with a better supporting cast he very well could produce like an elite player.

Someone is going to be willing to pay him accordingly if Jones is not.
