As could be expected social media channels blew up shortly after he sent the ill-advised tweets, and within an hour he delted them. Many thought he would claim he was hacked, but instead in a round about way he owned up to them by apologizing for the implication they made:
Let me apologize to the women and to the VICTIMS of domestic violence people my intent was not to downplay the situation..

Hmm....it's a good first step, but with what he said this will not be the end of it for him. Since nothing is ever truly gone once it hits the internet this will follow him for quite sometime probably.
Why? Well--look at what he said:
Oh Paul. How can you not condone it, but then say it is acceptable in a certain situation? When you do that you are condoning it.
Shame on you.
