SMU is Going to Give Fans Something to Cheer About Against Texas A&M--Beer

The SMU Mustangs have been good (but far from great) long enough after being a door mat for so long that fans started to believe they could win (or at least compete). This season--they suck. They can't defend (124th in points allowed). They can't score (128th). They can't run (128th) and theya are not very good at passing either (108th).They lost their head coach.

With that in mind why on Earth would fans go to the game? Beer.

Even the worst games can be made enjoyable if you are able to enjoy a few beers with your buddies, and starting this Saturday against Texas A&M beer and wine will be for sale at Ford Stadium.

It's a move that more colleges are starting to test and even adopt for the simple reason that it is a great revenue stream. SMU started selling alcohol at basketball games last season and ended up making over a $100,000.

So while it would be nice to think the school is trying to make sure fans have a reason to come to home games this season in reality they are just trying to make a little money off of them.
