Former Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher Quits Job at Fox Sports 1

It has become a common practice for broadcast companies to hire on recently retired players as studio analysts with the hopes that their popularity will give rating a slight boost. Of course, it helps if they can actually talk about the game like a half-way intelligent, semi-sane person, but hey--that's what writers and stupid human tricks are for (right, Randy Moss?).

Former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was one of the guys that made the transition from football field to studio when he retired last season, but it appears that he's had enough of talking about the game.

Last Sunday's broadcast are going to be the last for Urlacher. The big man has decided to step down from his position as studio analyst for FOX Sports 1:
“I have enjoyed the work, so this is a tough decision, but right now it’s best for me to dedicate my time to my family. I’ve enjoyed my time at FOX Sports and want to thank all of the people who helped create the opportunity for me, especially Eric Shanks, John Entz, Jay Glazer, Joel Klatt, Curt Menefee, Randy Moss, and the dedicated production and support personnel I worked with over the last year.”
Urlacher has a couple of daughters, Pam and Riley, with his ex-wife Laurie and a son, Kennedy, with Tyna Robertson that he has visitation rights with.
