Time for Knile Davis to Show the Denver Broncos and the World What He Can Do

When the news broke that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to lose the services of running back Jamaal Charles for the next few weeks due to a high ankle sprain no one was happy about it. Well--probably no one. While he likely feels for his teammate and fellow running back Knile Davis is glad to have the chance to show what he can do as a team's No. 1 running back.

If Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos is any indication the Chiefs offense is not going to miss a step with Charles on the sideline.

Davis received time in each regular season game during his rookie season last year, but he really didn't get a chance to show what he can do till the end of the season. Of the first 15 games he had fewer than five carries in 12 of them and no carries in three games.

With Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno sharing carries he was just not needed.

However, in the regular season finale he did give fans a taste with a strong performance against the San Diego Chargers--81 yards and two  touchdowns on 27 carries. That game along with Moreno's injury history probably made it easy for the Chiefs to let Moreno go.

So here comes the 2014 season, he's the No. 2 man on the depth chart, and the No, 1 man goes down with an injury early in the second game of the season against a very tough opponent. For a running back, next to the playoffs there is no bigger stage.

How does he respond?

He responds with 105 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Not bad, but now its time for the tough part--doing it again.
