PHOTO: What the Heck is David Ortiz Wearing on His Feet?

Often times during the World Series the network will tab a popular player from another team to join the broadcast crew. When this happens it is not unusual for said player to show off an 'interesting' sense of style. This year's player--David Ortiz, aka Big Papi--is no different.

What the heck are those things? Did he steal them off the set of the next Mad Max movie or something? Is he looking to really hurt someone when he kicks them in the behind later? As a baseball player you'd think he would know the studs go on the bottom, but since he's not playing I guess he decided to try something different.
