On any given Sunday Dalton is often one of the best in the game, and the results (three straight trips to the post season) prove it. It's likely because of that the team signed him to a sweetheart contract extension (6-years, $115 million).
There is just one problem though. When it comes to a prime time or post season game Dalton goes from stud to an absolute dude. His stat line from Thursday night is proof enough of that (see above).
In some cases the defensive pressure had a lot to do with it, but not always.
One interception can be handled by a team as good as the Bengals can be, but three? Pretty darn hard to overcome that.
This play was just flat out embarrassing.
The Cleveland defense did make things hard on him, but not hard enough to explain how he bad he played.
Dalton can be a really good quarterback, but there is something in him that seems to disconnect when he is needed the most. With the money the Bengals are paying him they may want to figure out how to deal with it--and soon.
