Bengals RB Jeremy Hill Has Not Earned the Right to Trash Anyone Yet

Thursday night the story in the NFL was the Browns finally doing something that had alluded them for years--a road win in the division. The following morning the main story is still the Browns, but some comments made by Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Jeremy Hill are gaining steam.

After only gaining 55 yards on the ground against the Browns and fumbling the ball once Hill seems to think Cleveland sucks.

To be fair he did not directly say that he thinks they suck, but the meaning is certainly implied in his comments:

On one hand you can look at his comments and say he is just doing what any rival wood and trash talking the other guy. It happens all the time and even after a team loses a game, but typically not after getting dominated like the Bengals were.

If you didn't watch the game a quick look at the stats will give you a good idea how it went. Dalton was so bad he actually earned a QB rating of 2.0 (I didn't know that was possible). The defense was not horrible, but a Browns team that has struggled to run the ball all season gained 170 yards on the ground and had three different runners rush for touchdowns.

As for Hill--a rookie getting his second start in the NFL--he had just 55 yards on the day and fumbled the ball early in the first half. The fumble didn't result in points for the Browns and his per carry average was a respectable 4.6 yards/carry--but when your team loses who cares? Since the team lost he clearly didn't do enough. Maybe if the team thought he was capable of providing more they would have given him the ball.

Now some will say he can talk trash if he wants to and that is true, but in doing so he sounds more like a guy that doesn't have a clue rather than a talented rookie on the rise (like he is).

Just shut up and play Jeremy. Talk trash when you've actually done something.
