Rookie Terrance West Makes Strong Case to Become Primary Running Back for Browns in Win Over Bengals

As a rookie you are often happy to make the team and play on special teams. Heck, some guys are probably happy to be able to see the game from the best seats in the house (the sideline). However, to be in the mix for playing time and the chance to even be the primary anything? That's a lot harder to come by especially for a third rounder from a small school like Towson.

Right Terrance West?

The hope was that free agent acquisition Ben Tate would be the man to give the Browns a much needed running attack, but injuries forced the team to look elsewhere early in the season. That opened the door for Isaish Crowell and Terrance West to earn the job, but neither did enough to make it their own.

So pretty much week in and week out the Browns have used all three in hopes that someone would get hot and earn the job. It appears that after a solid performance against the Bengals Thursday night Terrance West might have done just that.

Going in to the game the rumor floating around the internet was that the coaches were really pleased with the work West had turned in during the week so they were looking to give him the bulk of the carries. On the night he had 26 carries (new career high) and gained 94 yards and a touchdown off of them.

So after earning the chance he did something with it. Whether or not that means he is going to get the bulk of the carries going forward remains to be seen. The team has not indicated one way or the other just yet.

However, after having a night like he had you would think that he would at least be given the chance to prove it wasn't a fluke next week when they take on the Houston Texans.
